Electric actuator fail-safe
The advantage of a failsafe electric actuator over a failsafe pneumatic or hydraulic actuator is that it does not require a supply of pressurized air or oil.
In normal operation, a simple electrical supply will do the job.
In emergency conditions, the mechanical power of the spring will operate the valve to the desired safe position.
If only electrical power is available and require a safe fault condition this is the perfect solution.
The safety action is direct and is performed by the actuator itself.
It does not require any extra equipment such as expensive industrial UPS systems,
which in addition to not taking the direct action of leaving the valve open or closed,
also involves additional points of possible failures and extra equipment maintenance.
Fail-safe electric actuators can operate many types of valves such as:
-Quarter turn
-Multi-turn
-Lineal
